This was a really helpful and calming read. I like how you included simple ways to take care of yourself like walking, crying if needed, journaling, and getting better sleep. It’s a good reminder that small habits really do make a big difference.

I have found that most who suffer with anxiety suffer alone: the fact that they try to work out everything in their own mind by themselves contributes directly to the anxiety. Having healthy, intimate relationships where thoughts and feelings can be shared safely is a key to overcoming anxiety.

The full toolbox is so key. Being able to draw on different techniques keeps me from just imploding some days. Thanks for this note. 💙

This stuff works.

Sometimes.

It's important to recognize that there are various levels and depths to trauma-response, though.

There were times in my life when this worked, but others where all the deep breaths and long walks in the world couldn't touch the core of what was going on.

There was real work to be done.

All that is to say that these are good. But supplemental..NOT transformational as some guru types would imply..not if you've got deep emotional and spiritual healing work to do

It's important that we (the healing and the healers, walking the same path, playing either or both roles, at times a bit ahead or behind, but otherwise no different) make these differencuations, lest the vulnerable get their hopes up only to find there's more to it that's not so easy to convey.

Having said all that, good stuff! Thank you for being a part of this healing/writing journey. You are contributing valuable messages here. 💜

Thank you for this, Wahab. When I was younger I suffered from generalized anxiety disorder, and being in the military at the time (U.S. Navy) wasn't the place to have such a condition. While I've seasoned over the years, it's still in the back of my mind. I'm with you whenever you feel this coming on.
